Senior Lectureship in Microbiome Sciences

This position is being filled as part of UCC Futures: Food, Microbiome and Health.

UCC Futures  is an ambitious new programme of research prioritisation, coupled with an innovative academic recruitment strategy spanning 10 strategically important indicative areas encompassing the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, STEM, Health, Business and Law.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate in the field of Microbiome Science to join the School of Microbiology and to have a research alignment with the School of Microbiology and APC Microbiome Ireland and/or other research centres in UCC e.g., Environmental Research Institute and MaREI (Energy, Climate and Marine). The successful candidate will be expected to initiate a vigorous research programme in any aspect of microbiome sciences, including the human microbiome and environmental microbiomes. Suitable areas would include, but are not limited to, molecular microbial ecology, microbe-host interactions (beneficial or pathogenic), bioinformatics and genomics. Applicants pursuing mechanistic investigations of microbiome function are particularly welcome. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to, and assume leadership of, teaching and research programmes to support these areas within the School of Microbiology, APC Microbiome Ireland, and associated research centres.

Appointment may be made on the Senior Lecturer Salary Scale: €75,426 – €106,871 (Scale B) / €72,840 - €101,527 (Scale A)
