Temporary part-time (0.5fte or 0.4fte) post until 28th February 2027
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Project Manager within UCD School of Mathematics & Statistics.
This role will support a Horizon Europe project which due to commence 1st March 2023 and due to complete on 28th February 2027, under the direction of Assoc Prof Eimear Byrne, School of Mathematics and Statistics, who is the Project Coordinator. ENCODE (European Network in Coding Theory and Applications) is a Horizon Europe MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE ACTION Doctoral Network (MSCA-DN), which provides high-level training in coding theory to 8 high-achieving doctoral candidates (DNs), based across 5 European countries. This European Doctoral Network blends interdisciplinary research, non-academic placements, meetings, schools, and workshops to prepare the trainees for careers in coding theory research within academia and industry. Its overall research objective is the discovery and development of mathematical techniques underlying security and efficiency of digital communications and computation in distributed settings.
The appointee to this post will support the UCD Coordinator and will provide administrative support to research activities and strategic planning initiatives within the ENCODE network. This role will also provide support for the individual Work Package Lead PIs within the consortium, coordinating management and administrative activities. The project manager will support the timely preparation of supports to the European Commission; liaise with the Research offices of the beneficiary institutions and coordinate training workshops and outreach activities. The Project manager will also monitor progress of individual research projects, particularly delays that impact on other projects and will update the supervisory boards on progress. The successful candidate will contribute to research outreach and research project support, maintain the action webpage and support its communication activities.
Note: The position is offered on a temporary part-time i.e., 0.5fte, half-time, or 0.4fte (working an equivalent of 2 days per week), and ideally commencing on 1 March 2023, or shortly thereafter. The position will be located in the UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics.
Fixed Salary: €45,000 per annum pro rata.
(Equal to €22,500 p.a. for a part-time (0.5fte) post OR €18,000 per annum for a part-time (0.4fte) post.
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
