Research Associate - International Consent Programme Developer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time position as an International Programme Development Researcher with the Active* Consent programme based at the School of Psychology, University of Galway. 

This position is funded by the Active* Consent programme and is available immediately to contract end date of April 19th 2025 (approx. 24 months), with scope for renewal. 

This is a unique opportunity to develop the existing model of the Active* Consent model of engagement with young people, educators and professional staff to an international audience. Information on the Active* Consent programme is available at https://consenthub.ie . 

Job Description: 

The successful candidate will contribute to the design and development of a research project to adapt the Active* Consent programme and collaborate with partners to internationalise the programme, for example in the United States.  

Duties:  

Lead on a research-based project to adapt the Active* Consent programme to colleges or schools internationally, under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator / Programme Co-Leads. 

Engage and mobilise a network of stakeholders among colleges, researchers, practitioners and professional staff to support the project. 

Define research objectives for research-based international consent education whilst contributing to the research programme of the Active* Consent programme under the general guidance of the PI.  

Plan and coordinate the research project to adapt current Active* Consent resources to an international audience, which may include coordinating a small research team. 

Implement the project with stakeholders such as academics and professional staff in colleges and with students, with advice and support as appropriate from the PI. 

Complete the administrative work to support the project and to inform the PI of ongoing work and updates. 

Identify and follow up on potential grant development opportunities relevant to project sustainability. 

Manage a research budget and keep records as directed and in line with policy as appropriate. 

Know the legal requirements regarding data protection and confidentiality data protection requirements, particularly related to storing confidential information. 

Attend, network and present on project progress and outcomes to stakeholders and team members, as agreed with the PI. 

Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research project with the support of the PI. 

Carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post. 

Qualifications/Skills required 

Essential Requirements:  

A primary degree (Level 8) qualification in a relevant area. 

A relevant PhD qualification OR a minimum of four years of post-primary degree (full-time) research experience that is relevant to the project. 

Evidence of the ability to develop and support networks of stakeholders and supporters. 

Experience in initiating and managing projects with the support of a PI. 

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, teamwork and collaborative skills. 

Flexibility to travel internationally and to organise working hours to support partners in North America. 

Desirable Requirements: 

Demonstrated experience in knowledge translation that would be relevant to adapting research-based educational workshops and training resources. 

Relevant experience in qualitative and / or quantitative research methods.  

Relevant professional experience in areas such as sexual consent, sexual violence and harassment prevention, or wellbeing. 

Experience working on national or international collaborative projects. 

Evidence of engagement with projects involving collaboration of research groups at different universities. 

Interest or experience in working with change and development programmes in colleges or schools. 

Experience in publishing research or writing research reports. 

Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher Scale point 1 to point 10 (€42,032 - €54,153 per annum pro rata), depending on experience (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply Research Salary Scales - University of Galway ).  

Start date: Position is available immediately.
