Applications are invited for a 1 year post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine.
The Research Assistant will support the Principal Investigator and other members of the team in fulfilling the objectives of this research project. The overall objective is to use a Systems Biology approach to investigate equine host-helminth interactions and related immune-mediated and metabolic disease, in collaboration with investigators at UCDavis, building on the multi-omic data available for the Pioneer 100 herd. This work will also integrate with other work on equine parasitology in the PI's group, including looking at the prevalence of equine parasitic worm species present in horses in Ireland, and their interaction with the gut microbiota of the host. The person appointed with work with the PI, with graduate research students and others to fulfill the research objectives, conducting laboratory work, providing initial training of undergraduate students who may receive research experience with the group, recording data accurately, and participating in the preparation of scientific presentations and manuscripts. Some field work for sample collection may also be required.

Fixed Salary: €27,766 per annum
