Position summary

The School of Chemistry is looking to appoint a Research Assistant to join a team investigating chemical and biological approaches to recycle PET bottles.  Specific tasks will involve: (i) preparing catalysts for use in microwave and thermal reactors, (ii) analysing the products formed from the chemical depolymerisation of PET and (iii) combining chemical and biological approaches to recycle PET.

The position is funded by the Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research Centre (AMBER), in collaboration with PepsiCo, for a period of 12 months.  The successful candidate will be based in the School of Chemistry at University College Cork (UCC) but will be expected to work with collaborators in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at UCC.

Post Duration: 12 months

Salary: €23,061 - €35,922 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale)
