The Role

We are seeking a research assistant or post-doctoral researcher in the UK-Ireland Collaboration specialising in the Digital Humanities to assist with a  research project titled; Harnessing digital technologies to transform understanding of Ogham writing, from the 4th century to the 21st (OG(H)AM; URL: https://ogham.glasgow.ac.uk/).

Funded by the Irish Research Council (grant number IRC/W001985/1) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and led by Professor David Stifter, jointly with the UK Co-PI Professor Katherine Forsyth, we expect to make a significant contribution to the understanding of the historical development of the use of Ogham in the long-term perspective.

The position of the researcher involves digitising Ogham inscriptions. Digitisation will consist primarily of encoding data in TEI XML format for the project’s digital corpus of Ogham. It may on occasion also entail assisting in fieldwork for 3D-recording of objects with inscriptions.

Research Assistant Level 1(2023)Salary Scale:                     €29,275 - €33,131 p.a.pro rata (6 points)

Research Assistant Level 2(2023 Salary Scale:                      €34,062 - €39,158 p.a. pro rata (7 points)

Post-Doctoral Researcher (2023) Salary Scale:                     €42,033 p.a. pro rata (1 point)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
