Applications are sought for the position of Research Assistant to conduct research within the Cellular Immunology Laboratory of Dr. Karen English. The successful candidate will join a programme of research investigating novel cell therapy based approaches to treat inflammatory conditions, specifically related to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This project will collaborate with a Consultants specialising in Intensive Care Medicine/Respiratory Medicine (Prof. John Laffey at NUI Galway, Prof. Ger Curley at RCSI, Prof. Claudia dos Santos at University of Toronto and Prof. Daniel Weiss at University of Vermont).

This post is funded by the financial support of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Research in the Cellular Immunology lab aims to explore mechanisms of cell therapy mediated protection combining molecular, cellular and whole organism approaches.

The research will combine state-of-the-art approaches in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, transcriptomics, immune signalling, mouse models and patient specimens with the aim of defining novel cell therapy approaches and mechanisms of action.

Salary

Research Assistant Level 1 (2021):                                            ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­€27,109 per annum (1 point) 

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.


*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above pay scale
