UCC Futures - Collective Social Futures is re-imagining and addressing the complex and intertwined societal, environmental and political challenges faced across the world. These include social and gender-based inequalities, geopolitical shifts, migration, health and climate change and the urgent need to foster a more caring and liveable world for all. The imperative to develop more collective and social visions of the future is more pressing than ever. By driving innovative, critical, theoretical, participatory and community-engaged research, UCC Futures – Collective Social Futures will foster excellence in social research to understand, re-envision and enact our collective social futures.
UCC wishes to appoint an outstanding scholar who will bring leadership and an innovative vision to German Studies. Reporting to the Head of School/College, the successful candidate will significantly enhance the profile of the subject at national and international level. The appointee will contribute to the promotion of the subject both in teaching and research, serving to expand interest in this important language at European level. They will lead the discipline and participate fully in the exciting UCC Futures initiative. They will have expertise in one or more areas of German Studies, hold a PhD in German or a relevant area, and have native or near-native competence in German.
Appointment may be made on the Professor (Scale 2) Salary Scale: €111,794- €131,296 (Scale B) / €106,204 - €124,733 (Scale A)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy
