We wish to recruit a Professor (B) of Accounting who can lead research and education in the field of Accounting, both through their own work and through the mentorship and development of other faculty and research students. The new Professor (B) of Accounting will also work with the other Professors, Faculty and Staff of the School of Business to support the development and operation of the wider School of Business’s research and education agenda.

The Professor (B) of Accounting ought to have an excellent track record in international peer reviewed Accounting publications, teaching and education innovation and in the development of Accounting education programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The Professor (B) of Accounting ought to have a proven capability in mentorship and development of faculty and research students, research funding, and experience in academic leadership. She/he will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching, research and profile of the university, and to provide ongoing leadership for the discipline.

We currently have a range of Accounting undergraduate programmes including denominated entry degrees such as the BA Accounting and Finance and the BBS Business and Accounting, which can be taken with or without a one year study abroad or work placement. An innovation in our Accounting undergraduate education, is that it can be taken as a joint honours degree with over 22 other subjects (e.g. languages, business, crimology, geography, anthropology, economics, computer science, sociology,law,  international development, psychological studies, amongst others). Accounting has two popular taught postgraduate degrees, the MA Accounting and the Higher Diploma in Professional Accounting. On-going review and innovation in our Accounting education portfolio would be part of the work of the Professor (B) Accounting in conjunction with School of Business faculty.  Professors within the School of Business have expertise in competitive research fund raising. The new Professor of Accounting would be expected to contribute to our research fund raising capacity. This ought to be through their own funding applications, supporting the research fund raising capacity, building and enablement of the School of Business faculty, and in cooperation with departments across the university.

Salary

Professor B                                                      €87,840 – €116,521 p.a. (6 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the Professor B (2020) payscale.
