NetwellCASALA (http://www.netwellcasala.org/ ) at Dundalk Institute of Technology is seeking to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on an SFI funded project ‘Enabling Self-Care and Shared Decision Making for People Living with Dementia’. This project is a collaboration with TU Dublin. The aim of the project is to develop a toolkit that integrates a number of novel technologies including a visual digital care plan, domestic and on body sensors supported by machine learning algorithms for activity recognition - to support home-based care planning, monitoring and shared decision making by people with dementia and their formal and informal carers

Skills/Qualifications

  • Hold a PhD or have equivalent experience in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of a strong publication track record in line with experience.
  • Experience in designing digital applications and user research including conducting interviews, focus groups, co-design workshops and usability testing.
  • Statistical analysis skills, including qualitative and quantitative.
  • Skills in both verbal and written communication, including proficiency in academic writing and public presentations.
  • Works proactively and demonstrates enthusiasm for research and a desire for career progression.
  • Ability to lead a research project.


Specific Requirements

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior postdoctoral experience.
  • Experience in working with older adults.
  • Experience in the field of digital health.
  • Experience in conducting and evaluating home-based studies of digital health technology.
  • Experience working on collaborative projects.
