Applications are invited for a 24 months post of a Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Psychology.

The ARITHMÓS Project: "Transforming children's mathematics education through digital games" will test whether two digital educational games, which have already won three international awards, could help children to reduce Math Anxiety (MA) and improve Mathematics Performance. The project will deliver: i) games augmented with features designed to address MA, ii) the RCT study, iii) a programme for teachers to improve MA management in class, iv) a cartoon video for family and children to raise awareness about low numeracy and MA. v) a meeting with policymakers concerning curriculum design. Main outcomes will address Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 3, 4, 5 and 10). This two-year project is funded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and will be supervised by Dr Flavia H. Santos at University College Dublin, and Dr. Pierpaolo Dondio at Technological University Dublin.

As this project is funded under a rapid-response scheme, there is an expectation that outputs will be produced quickly. The ideal candidate will therefore have previous experience managing large research projects.

This is an academic research role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research-led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:

Oversee the management of the project, particularly concerned with the RCT study.

Oversee ethical approval and compliance with GDPR.

Oversee preregistration of experimental studies

Manage data collection at the schools and statistical analysis (SEM, path analysis, etc)

Prepare reports of findings and produce high-quality papers suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals

Oversee data management and storage.

Salary: €42,201 - €44,658 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
