The Role

IVI is a multidisciplinary research institute focused on digital transformation and technology adoption based in Maynooth University. Founded in 2006 in collaboration with Intel, we have a strong track record of industry collaboration, both locally and internationally.

We have demonstrated excellent dissemination capability including education and training, and have developed a close working relationship with Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, and other research centers.

We are seeking an exceptional Post-Doctoral Researcher or Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher to join our team and support the SFI NexSys Project, focused on transitioning to a net zero carbon energy system. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the project, contributing to the development of new technologies and innovative solutions for energy system integration with the power system, energy flexibility, buildings, and electric transport. The individual will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of researchers from nine institutions across the Island of Ireland, industry partners, and policymakers to tackle fundamental research questions and deliver on the project's overarching scientific goals. The successful candidate will lead the technical development of the project, including the development of new technologies and data infrastructures. They will also contribute to the development of detailed energy system models, with an emphasis on integrating different energy systems such as gas, water, and electricity. This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional candidate to make a significant contribution to the decarbonization of the energy system and help mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Salary

Post-Doctoral Researcher (2023):               €42,033 – €48,427 p.a. (6 points)

Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher (2023):      €49,790 - €54,153 p.a.(4 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
