The Project: Terrain-AI 

Terrain-AI (T-AI) is a collaborative research project coordinated by Maynooth University and supported by Science Foundation Ireland’s Strategic Partnership Programme involving Teagasc, TCD, UCD, UL and DCU together with primary Industry partner Microsoft. T-AI’s core R&D activity revolves around improving our knowledge and understanding of Land Use activity - as this relates to Climate Change. Expanding global populations, agricultural intensification and climate change are increasing pressures on natural and managed environments.`

The Role:

We are seeking an Earth Observation (EO) scientist with solid Remote Sensing and Machine Learning expertise in working with various Spaceborne (Optical, Radar) as well as Airborne (Multispectral, Hyperspectral) datasets. Reasonable exposure to EO data handling including sensor calibration, processing (radiometric, geometric), feature selection, contemporary/emerging classification techniques including OBIA & ML modelling, time-series analysis  as well as validation and Data Quality. The EO-ML Scientist will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs), Project Manager (PM) and Data Platform Team to support the various EO-ML R&D activities of wider researchers, partners  and collaborators within T-AI.

Postdoctoral Researcher Level 1 (2022) Salary Scale:                                    €39,532 per annum pro rata

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
