Post-Doctoral Researcher - Computational Physics (24 Month Contract)

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Location: Kildare, LEINSTER
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 06 Aug 2022

The Role

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.

We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher in the area of Computational Physics. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will join Dr John Regan’s group and will primarily focus on code development of the Exascale class code Enzo-E. Enzo-E is an adaptive mesh refinement code designed to achieve extreme scalability on high-end supercomputing facilities. It combines strong scalability (using an octree method) with a host of astro-physics modules making EnzoE the code of choice for large scale cosmological simulations. The candidate will be required to add additional functionality to the code - particularly in the realm of conducting large scale, high resolution, simulations of structure formation in the early Universe including massive star and massive black hole formation. A number of key physics and technical attributes need to be added to the code to achieve this goal.

Close cooperation with collaborators based at the University of California San Diego, Columbia University (NY) and Georgia Tech is expected.
