The Role
Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.
We are seeking a Post-doctoral research scientist to conduct research within the Mucosal Immunology Research laboratory of Dr. Eoin McNamee. The group has a strong focus on the inflammatory bowel diseases and we target critical cytokine, chemokine and microRNA networks to understand how healthy immune responses are maintained at the intestinal mucosal barrier and what processes over-ride this during disease or infection. The successful candidate will join a programme of research investigating the molecular mechanisms of how microRNA circuits shape intestinal immunity. Translational immunology studies including clinical and industrial collaborations, will investigate how candidate microRNA’s in macrophage either promote tissue healing or drive chronic inflammation in models of inflammatory bowel disease or bacterial infection.
The research will combine state-of-the-art approaches using advanced immunology and biochemical techniques with transgenic murine models and ribosome profiling to identify novel therapeutic targets. This post is funded by the financial support of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).
Salary
Postdoctoral Researcher: €39,523 per annum
Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
