Specific Purpose Whole-time Post
(anticipated duration of 5 years)
University College Cork invites applications for a Lectureship in Chinese Linguistics/Applied Chinese Linguistics.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Chinese Studies, Linguistics or a related field, and have native or near-native competence in Chinese and English. Academic expertise and evidence of research and teaching in any area of Chinese linguistics are welcome. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while also pursuing research and contributing to administration. Specifically, the successful candidate will conduct and publish research in a field related to Chinese Linguistics, Applied Chinese Linguistics, or Chinese Studies, play a leading role teaching and coordinating the university’s successful Masters in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MATCSOL) program, and, as part of a larger team, occasionally advise upon the coordination of elements in the university’s wider range of Chinese language course offerings.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar Salary Scale, €34,748 - €61,370 (Scale B) or Lecturer Above the Bar Salary Scale, €67,073 - €86,241 (Scale B)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
