Applications are invited for a permanent post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor x2 (above the bar) within UCD School of Civil Engineering.

The School of Civil Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes. The School is home to two research centres: the Centre for Critical Infrastructure Research and the Centre for Water Resources Research. The successful appointees will have ample opportunity to develop their research agenda within these areas. The successful appointees will be encouraged to choose a mentor from the School Faculty, to support their academic development.

The School is recruiting suitably qualified candidates, with an expertise relating to its teaching and research activities. The School has a focus on strengthening its expertise relating to climate change, data analytics, digitisation, and renewable energy, and applicants should have the ability to contribute in some or all of these areas.

The successful appointees will play a key role in the delivery of programmes delivered by the School both in Dublin and overseas. The School is currently delivering an overseas programme in the Chang'an Dublin International College in China. Overseas teaching assignments will be of maximum duration of one trimester in an academic year. The School will provide the successful appointees with funding to support a PhD student (stipend and fees) for a four-year period, on commencement of the post.

  • a cover letter, in which they describe how their academic and research profile aligns with that of the School of Civil Engineering, with a particular focus on how they can contribute to the strengthening of expertise relating to climate change, data analytics, digitisation, and renewable energy
  • A complete CV including all research publications and research grants to date, together with any publications submitted for publication but not yet published, and the names and contact details of three potential referees
  • a 2-page research statement, outlining their 3-year research plan; 
  • a 2-page teaching statement, outlining their planned approach to teaching, assessment/student evaluation and module development.

95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar Salary scale: 58,206 - 92,172 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
