Applications are invited for a temporary part time post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Composition & Performance within UCD School of Music.

The appointee will be responsible, as an Artistic Director, for both the UCD Composition Ensemble and the UCD Gamelan Orchestra, and will be expected to coordinate the ensembles as modules within the UCD School of Music; this includes teaching theoretical components in addition to directing rehearsals and concert performances for both ensembles in the Autumn and Spring Trimesters.

The UCD Composition Ensemble composes and performs original works by students from a diverse backgrounds in terms of culture, experience, interests and abilities. The appointee should be experienced in teaching a wide range of compositional approaches, from contemporary classical to non-Western musical traditions, jazz, electronica and audio-visual work. The UCD Gamelan Orchestra primarily studies and performs the karawitan repertoire of Central Java, with a special focus on the Yogyakarta style. The appointee should be fluent in the theory and performance practise of both Solo and Yogya styles.

The successful candidate will liaise with the Head of School, School Manager and the directors of UCD's other Performing Groups in the preparation of an annual programme of musical events.

95Lecturer/Asst Professor (above the bar) Salary Scale: €54,849 - €87,724 per annum, pro-rata

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
