Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Anatomy

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Anatomy within the UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science.

This is a permanent post based at the UCD Health Sciences Centre, Belfield. The post-holder, who will have a background in Basic or Clinical Anatomy, will develop and maintain a competitive programme of research activity in Anatomy that gives novel insights into mechanisms of diseases or therapeutic interventions and devices that alleviate disease, or in allied areas of research that are aligned with School Research Strategy. To achieve this goal the post holder will obtain external funding and supervise student research activities including both undergraduate projects and postgraduate research degrees (PhD and MD).

Current areas of research strength and strategic development in Anatomy include (http://www.ucd.ie/medicine/anatomy/ ):

• Neuroscience
• Tissue engineering (including 3D printing)
• Reproductive Biology and Fertility Medicine

Other areas of research directly relevant to the School and University Research strategy will also be considered.

The post-holder will develop a strong, innovative teaching portfolio in Anatomy. To sustain this goal the post holder will deliver Anatomy modules that support the teaching and learning aims of our Medicine, Radiography and Science Degree Programmes. The post holder will also supervise student research activities including both undergraduate projects and postgraduate research degrees (PhD and MD).

Working with the other academic staff in the school of Medicine, the appointee will deliver Anatomy in the degree programmes to which the school contributes including Medicine, Radiography and Science Degree programmes. The post-holder will have responsibility for student assessment, support and academic guidance in both undergraduate and postgraduate Programmes. The appointee will also undertake roles such as module coordination, participation in examination boards, curriculum review and other activities required to maintain and develop the teaching mission of the School of Medicine.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
