Applications are invited for a temporary post of a iCRAG IT Specialist within UCD School of Earth Sciences.
The Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Centre in Applied Geosciences (iCRAG) was established in 2015 and is a world leader in applied geoscience Research. The Centre's team of researchers from across Ireland develop innovative science and technology to better understand the Earth's past, present and future and how people perceive Earth resources. The Centre's research programme consists of three grand challenges in Earth System Change, Earth Resources, and Earth Science in Society supported by five platforms of geophysics, geochemistry, geomodelling, geosensing, and geodata. iCRAG are currently hiring an IT Specialist to manage the Centre's IT Operations to support iCRAG staff and PhD students and post-doctoral researchers performing research involving 3D modelling of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data. Applicants for the position should have practical experience of FreeBSD and Linux server system administration and Windows OS and Apple OS maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to interface closely with staff and researchers facilitating the computing aspects of iCRAG research projects. The researchers utilize a number of specialized software packages primarily dealing with manipulation of complex 3D spatial data.
The Centre is administered in UCD and represents a collaboration between UCD, TCD, UoG, UCC, DIAS, DCU, and NUIM, and a variety of domestic and international industry partners. iCRAG operates in partnership with government agencies involved in the geosciences.
Salary range: 50,800 - 62,400 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
