The School of Natural Sciences wishes to appoint an E3 Geographical Informational Systems (GIS) Technical Officer to support and strengthen the School’s existing research and teaching activities. The Geospatial Research Group in the Discipline of Geography is particularly active in the domains of Applied Earth Observation (in-situ, UAV, aerial and satellite) and GIS. With a focus on terrestrial (e.g. coastal, glacial, and wetlands) and non-terrestrial (e.g. Mars) geomorphology as well as a focus on urban environments. Staff also use GIS and remote sensing to teach and research key societal challenges. The post will also support the School’s close links with the two other E3 Schools: Computer Science and Statistics, and Engineering, and enhance interdisciplinary teaching and research across the School of Natural Sciences (Disciplines of Botany, Geography, Geology and Zoology) and within the Centre for the Environment. Synergies exist with groups such as iCRAG, Insight, Adapt and Connect. The School also has excellent relationships with many universities nationally and internationally.

Post Status: Permanent

Hours: 39 Hours Per Week

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Technical Officer Pay Scale Salary Scale] at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€33,531 to €52,142 per annum] NEW ENTRANTS TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR WILL BE APPOINTED ON POINT 1 OF THE SCALE, €33531 per annum
