As part of an ambitious growth plan, GSM is seeking to recruit an experienced senior Academic to play a central role as part of the senior leadership of GSM with responsibility to lead the expansion of the School’s programme teaching portfolio and for the ongoing development of the GSM research agenda. The Academic Director will be responsible for the design, development and accreditation of new programmes, as part of the School’s strategic development plan and for the management of the GSM’s full-time faculty and adjunct contributors. The Academic Director will be based in RCSI’s Sandyford campus in Dublin and will have hybrid work opportunities.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Development of an academic strategy for the Graduate School of Healthcare Management in support of institutional healthcare impact and service
  • Lead the implementation of an academic strategy to build a programme portfolio in support of sector relevance, market penetration and research in line with University goals and the School’s strategic development plan
  • Oversee the content, assessment, quality assurance and resourcing of academic and professional development offerings
  • Ensure compliance with degree awarding, regulatory and governance requirements
  • Support the digital content development process
  • Build partnerships and collaborations in support of the School strategy and market expansion
  • Foster a strong research culture in support of the University and Institute mission

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant management/leadership discipline
  • Substantial experience in a senior academic role and ideally at a leadership level
  • Experience and responsibility in developing and delivering on new and innovative academic programmes
  • Track record in leading a transformative growth agenda
  • Experience in applying innovative solutions to solve problems in an academic context
  • People management experience.
  • Expertise in the delivery of postgraduate education in leadership, management or a related discipline
  • Experience in design and delivery of flexible learning models, blended and online learning programs
  • Demonstrate a strong Research portfolio
