Faculty Position in Neuroscience

The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. We seek a dynamic neuroscientistwho complements departmental and school strengths in integrative systems neuroscience, which includes the neural basis of stress-related disorders, neurodegeneration, animal behaviors, synaptic circuits, and autonomic regulation. Areas of interest include neural-immune interactions, glial cell biology, and molecular and genomic approaches to neural diseases and development. Appointment at the assistant professor rank is anticipated, but more senior candidates may be considered. We particularly encourage applications from members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in science and medicine.

Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining an externally funded research program, participating in medical and graduate student education, and engaging in institutional service.The potential to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations within and outside the department is essential. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a competitive start-up package. 

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with a demonstrable track record of research productivity as evidenced by publications and funding potential.
