We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow at the BioMedical Center, University of Iceland to characterize endothelial cell phenotypes that accompany hormonal changes in acute critical illness. The endothelium is a single cell layer surrounding the lumen of blood vessels and is involved in hemostasis and the immune response. Endothelial dysfunction or endotheliopathy accompanies multiple diseases of the vasculature, including diabetes, myocardial infarction and stroke, that are leading causes of death. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in molecular cell biology and an interest in integrative data analysis.

Main tasks

The candicate will lead and execute cell biology and biochemical assay efforts that include siRNA/shRNA, qRT-PCR, western blotting, molecular imaging etc. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the project, it is possible that the candidate will also lead the integrated analysis efforts of RNAseq, proeomics, metabolomics data an clinical data to decipher mechanisms of endotheliopathy.
