The Department of Engineering at Reykjavik University is looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher and a Ph.D. student to join the project H-HOPE: HIDDEN HYDRO OSCILLATING POWER FOR EUROPE. The project is a collaboration between Reykjavik University and 13 EU partners.
The main objective of this project is to improve the energy security, enhance the resilience and guarantee sustainability of energy and water infrastructure across Europe.
There are two positions available: a three years Ph.D. position and a three years Postdoc position. The successful applicants will be based at Reykjavík University in Iceland. Both positions are paid positions according to standard Icelandic salaries (PhD student – 425.000 isk / month; Post doc – 623.000 isk / month).
The successful candidates will contribute to:
- Management of the H-Hope project
- Risk assessment for energy and water infrastructure in selected case studies across Europe
- Assessment of new energy harvesters to increase security, improve sustainability and enhance resilience of water and energy infrastructure.
- Development of LCA, stakeholder assessment, causal loop diagrams and risk assessments
- Modelling of climatic impacts and other scenarios
- Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals
Qualifications: The candidates should have postgraduate degrees in engineering, social sciences or related fields with a strong interest in energy transition. The candidates must be self-organized with a strong ability to work autonomously and to have strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written). It is preferable if the applicant has a background or strong interest in:
- Risk assessment of energy systems
- Stakeholder analysis
- Causal loop diagrams
- Energy modelling
- Life Cycle analysis
- Environmental Impact assessment
