A position for a postdoctoral researcher is available for a highly motivated and talented individual.  


Field of work

The research is led by Kristín Briem, professor at the Faculty of medicine, University of Iceland. It focuses primarily on risk factors associated with knee injury. The postdoctoral candidate would  focus on conceptualising and testing hypotheses by processing and analysing previously collected data, including lower limb 3D motion and electromyography (EMG). The work will further involve preparing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals and presenting at national and international conferences. The candidate may also participate in supervising post-graduate students as well as writing grant applications. The work will take place in an interdisciplinary and international research environment.


Qualification requirements

The candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in the area of human movement science or a similar field

  • Have authored relevant publications
  • Have experience in using appropriate equipment and software for data collection and processing of motion data and/or muscle activation.
  • Experience in the area of physical therapy is an asset.
  • The candidate needs to have good communication skills in English, including spoken and academic writing skills.

This position is supported by the Icelandic Research Fund for one year. The salary for the position will be in accordance with the current collective wage and salary agreement between the trade union and the Minister of Finance.

The employment is planned to start as soon as possible, upon agreement with the chosen candidate.
