CEU’s Development Office (DEVO) is responsible for securing philanthropic support and developing strategic partnerships to help sustain the University and ensure it has the financial resources needed to innovate through its educational, research, and community engagement programs. This support comes primarily from foundations, corporations, and individuals, complementing revenues from a variety of other sources. DEVO works with current and potential donors to identify mutual interests and support investments across the University while liaising with leadership, faculty, and staff to demonstrate the impact of these contributions. As the University seeks the resources to develop a new campus in Vienna and implement its CEU 2025 vision.

 

The Research and Stewardship Coordinator will conduct essential research about major gift prospects (individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate and government entities) and lead a comprehensive stewardship program to inspire deepened donor engagement and long-term donor investment. The Research and Stewardship Coordinator will be part of a global team dedicated to securing philanthropic support for the University in alignment with the mission-driven CEU 2025 strategic plan.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

Research:

  • Identify and qualify leadership gift prospects by researching and analyzing individual, foundation, and corporate entities for linkage (connections to CEU); personal and philanthropic interests; affinity (engagement and propensity to donate to CEU); and giving the capacity to grow the prospect pipeline and ensure the best prospects are actively qualified and managed by development officers (moves management). 
  • Assist development staff with various prospect management tasks, including (but not limited to) prospect coding, tracking, status monitoring, reporting, and the review of dynamic information such as contact notes and account comments. 
  • Prepare detailed, accurate briefing materials on prospects for meetings and events. 
  • Provide supervision to student assistants when needed. 
  • Participate in the maintenance, administration, and configuration of prospect management and research components of University data systems, which currently include Raiser’s Edge NXT and SharePoint. 
  • Record, organize and maintain prospect information in accordance with CEU policies and relevant privacy regulations. 

Stewardship:

  • Manage the gift acknowledgment process for all CEU entities with efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. Ensure the creation and distribution of donor acknowledgment letters and gift receipts.  
  • Refine, document, and implement a systematic stewardship program to demonstrate transparency, convey gratitude, and highlight the impact of gifts at CEU. Drive innovation in donor recognition and stewardship in the design and execution of this comprehensive stewardship strategy to inspire deepened donor engagement and long-term donor investment in CEU. 
  • Develop tracking methods to monitor the effectiveness of recognition and stewardship efforts, including procedures involved in the execution of gift acknowledgments. 
  • Assist in planning and executing special events designed to strengthen and expand relationships with donors, including donor recognition events. 
  • Collaborate with CEU departments and units to improve standard operating procedures, increase efficiency in processes, and create stewardship opportunities designed to improve donor engagement and retention. 
  • Compile information to facilitate the completion of time-sensitive stewardship projects. 
  • Produce/coordinate the creations of a variety of video, digital, and print content for stewardship reports and outreach that meet departmental and institutional standards.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2-3 years of directly related professional experience (preferably in Nonprofit Prospect Research or Management, Development, Advancement Services, Sales, Data Analytics). 
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English. Good command of the German language is a plus.  
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, visualization, and communication skills.  
  • Proficiency in determining the quality, reliability, and accuracy of sources. Understanding of what constitutes relevant information and how to analyze that information to support prospect research and analytics.  
  • Competence in a variety of computer applications, including donor databases, Microsoft Office. Experience using Raiser's Edge NXT or other fundraising/CRM software is an advantage. Experience with AI applications in fundraising is a plus. 
  • Understanding of the methods and importance of maintaining the security of confidential and sensitive donor information. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data from a wide variety of sources and present the resulting information in a clear summary with great data visualization skills. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects in a fast-paced environment with high efficiency, thorough attention to detail, and timely follow-through.   
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.  
  • Familiarity with and appreciation of the mission, purpose, and values of CEU.  

 

 

Compensation
