Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a part-time (30 hours/week) Project Manager position at the Open Learning Initiative (OLIve) starting in September 2021, in Vienna.   


 


The Project Manager’s responsibilities and duties will focus on the administrative organization of the OLIve consortium which comprises CEU, Bard College Berlin (BCB) and the University of East London (UEL). These three universities have received a grant from the Open Society University Network (OSUN) to run education programs for refugees.  The Project Manager will be responsible for administrative matters and international and external communications and will also work with the consortium Chairs on fundraising. The Project Manager will work closely with the consortium’s Chairs and Education Leads to ensure that project goals and funders’ expectations are met. An ideal candidate would be a person who has experience managing multi-university consortia and experience in working on education programs for traditionally marginalized populations. 


 


The position runs for 12 months from October 1, 2021, with the possibility of extension if further funding is secured.  The Project Manager will be jointly supervised by consortium Chairs from CEU (Prof. Prem Kumar Rajaram) and BCB (Prof. Kerry Bystrom). 


 


OLIve education programs for people with refugee backgrounds began at CEU in 2016 and now run in five different European countries. We are committed to addressing inequality in access to higher education. 


 


Tasks and Responsibilities 


 


Consortium administrationThe Project Manager will be responsible for establishing a coherent, efficient, and streamlined administrative structure at the OLIve consortium. To that end, the Project Manager will: 


  • Devise and maintain a comprehensive file and document repository system 
  • Devise and maintain a database of relevant information about the education programs at CEU, BCB and UEL 
  • Manage, and have oversight, over the consortium budget 
  • Schedule and organize joint meetings and events 
  • Be the first point of contact for external reviewers 
  • Organize and participate in the production and dissemination of consortium reports and publications 


 


 


CommunicationsThe Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that the consortium’s work is externally communicated, and that a clear internal communications protocol is implemented.  To those ends, the Project Manager will be responsible for: 


  • Setting up and maintaining a consortium website and social media presence 
  • Ensuring that the OLIve teams at CEU, BCB and UEL maintain appropriate and regular online presence 
  • Preparing information booklets and reports on consortium activities for dissemination 
  • Deciding on and maintaining an internal communications procedure 


 


Fundraising: 


The OLIve consortium has received funding for one year. Individual consortium members are committed to working together in future years should funding be received.  Additionally, the possible renewal of the OSUN grant is conditional to co-funding by other funders.  The Project Manager will be actively involved in this task by: 


  • Identifying possible funding opportunities 
  • Preparing concept notes and similar for potential funders 
  • Managing the grant writing process, including writing parts of proposals 


 


 


Required skills and competencies 


  • Project management experience, preferably in a multi-university education-centered consortium 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English 
  • Financial skills (for budgeting and reporting, and overseeing the consortium budget) 
  • Proficiency in using Office 365 (especially Excel, Word, Outlook) 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize 


 


Desirable skills and competencies: 


  • Experience working in communications, particularly in social media 
  • Skills in designing written output (e.g., publications) and in creating or maintaining an attractive online presence 
  • Experience maintaining a simple website (such as WordPress or Drupal sites) or willingness to learn 
  • Fundraising experience 
  • Previous experience with SAP or similar financial reporting system

Compensation 


We offer a competitive starting gross annual salary of 37,500 EURas well as a dynamic and international academic environment.
