The Nationalism Studies Program invites applications for a Part-Time (25 hours/week) Department Coordinator position to provide day-to-day administrative and organizational support to the department, its students and faculty members.

 

Background:

The Nationalism Studies Program engages students in empirical and theoretical study of issues of nationalism, self-determination, problems of state formation, ethnic conflict, minority protection, language and citizenship rights and constitutional design in ethnically divided societies.

The Nationalism Studies Program at Central European University offers both one- and two-year Master-degree programs to its approximately 45 students and also supports the research activity of doctoral students specializing in Nationalism Studies.

 

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing day-to-day assistance and support to students and faculty members
  • Coordinate the department financial activities, accounts payable, travel, purchasing, expenditures
  • Prepare personnel documents for (visiting) faculty, researchers, and student assistants for their employment contracts and payroll
  • Organizing departmental events (workshops, conferences, public lectures, field trips, etc.)
  • Support the administration of the academic programs (student recruitment and admissions, course enrollment, administering records, credit and grade entry, data maintenance)
  • Managing the website and social media of the Nationalism Studies Program
  • Handling day-to-day operation and technical problems

 

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • At least 3 years of working experience in a position with similar tasks, ideally in higher education
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-starter and self-manager: Takes initiative, anticipates needs, and gets things done consistently on time.
  • Flexibility and reliability
  • Responsive: We are committed to a high level of responsiveness across the university, with our students and corporate contacts
  • Positive attitude: The ideal candidate needs to have a “can-do” attitude
  • Experience with some or all the technology platforms that we use (Drupal website management, social media platforms, Microsoft O365 and Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to embrace and learn new technology quickly (SAP)

We offer a competitive salary starting from gross 42,000 EUR/year (prorated). A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate’s working experience.
