The Visual Studies Platform (VSP) is a cross-disciplinary initiative designed to explore and propose innovative approaches to research and teaching visual imagery in the digital century. It encompasses research on visual theory, method, and history across different media forms, including visual arts, film, photography and performance and offers students to pursue Advanced Certificate in Visual Theory and Practice (VTP).  It invites CEU students and faculty also to interpretation digital images through a web of interrelated activities, including thematic colloquia, workshops, summer schools and a variety of cross-departmental courses.  

The Visual Studies Platform (VSP) at Central European University is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/week) Coordinator in Vienna. The successful candidate will work closely with the VSP core team of academics and practitioners to help support and grow the VSP and its activities.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Administer the Advanced Certificate in Visual Theory and Practice (VTP), including student enrollment, course listings, room bookings, and other logistics
  • Prepare and administer calls and contracts for the visiting faculty
  • Facilitate communication with students pursuing VTP
  • Coordinate VSP public events, including the logistics of guest visits and travel, public screenings, workshops including DocLab workshop, and other activities
  • Help design, promote and maintain the VSP CEU website and other social media
  • Facilitate collaboration with similar programs and partners in Hungary and abroad
  • Prepare annual reports on the VTP progress and VSP activities

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with organizing academic and public events
  • Excellent English-language writing and communication skills
  • Good team player
  • Ability to cope with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible working hours, including evening programs
  • Familiarity and interest in visual culture, film, new media

 

Compensation:

We offer a competitive gross annual salary of 21,500 EUR for this 20 hours/week part-time job, commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment This is a fixed term position from October 01, 2022 until June 30, 2023.
