The Department of Legal Studies at Central European University (CEU) provides high quality advanced legal education and education in human rights, comparative constitutional law, and international business law. Its programs are among the finest in Europe, enabling students to obtain a solid grounding in fundamental legal concepts in civil law and common law systems and to develop unique skills in comparative analysis.

The CEU invites applications for a Junior Coordinator position in the Department of Legal Studies at the Vienna Campus. This is a full-time position for a fixed term of one year with the possibility of further extension. As a member of a small administrative team supporting each other, the new Junior Department Coordinator will have the following duties.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support to students, faculty, and guests
  • Preparing the course and exam schedules, administering records, credit and grade entry, data maintenance,
  • Arranging admission interviews, answering inquires of applicants
  • Advising students on course enrollment and program rules, ensuring that students adhere to university and program policy
  • Communicating and coordinating with students
  • Preparing meeting minutes
  • Coordinating and organizing departmental events, conferences and lectures
  • Posting on departmental social media platforms
  • Office management, maintaining inventory of office supplies and equipment
  • Contact with central university administration
  • Other Department related tasks assigned by the Head of Department.

Skills and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree (at least)
  • Ability to work independently,
  • Ability to balance sensitivity towards student needs with ensuring student adherence to university and program regulations
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is a must. Experience in writing summaries, minutes, policies is an advantage.
  • Interest in creative problem-solving
  • Multicultural orientation and open-mindedness
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize
  • Proficiency in using Office 365 and MS products
  • Proficiency in spoken and written German is an advantage
  • Good financial management skills and familiarity with SAP is an advantage
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information
  • Previous administrative, or organizational or client support experience ideally in higher education is an advantage

Compensation

We offer a gross annual salary of 40,000 EUR commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
