The Human Resources Office at Central European University (CEU), Vienna invites applications for a full-time Immigration Specialist to manage the residence and work permit processes of the faculty, staff, and students.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting in D-type visa procedures for third country national future employees
  • Preparing documents for registration card and residence permit applications for employees and for their family members
  • Assisting UK citizens with necessary paperwork
  • Obtaining work permit (AMS) for third country national employees and freelancers and for third-country national students
  • Following up on pending requests with the relevant authorities (MA35, AMS),
  • Arranging appointments, keeping contact with applicants
  • Consulting with employees and their family members regarding their residency status in Austria
  • Consulting with HRO team members and other university colleagues regarding the regulations on hiring non-EU citizens
  • Consulting with the team members of Student Services Office about student resident permit processes
  • Managing problematic student visa/residence permit applications
  • Keeping track of current individual permit application process, with daily update on each step
  • Keeping track of existing permits’ expiration dates
  • Initiating residence permit renewals in a timely manner
  • Regular reporting to the authorities with regards to foreign employees
  • Liaising with authorities via e-mail, phone and in person. Helps employees with the permit process through escorting in person the employee to the relevant authorities.
  • Ensuring the compliance of HRO processes and info materials with the Austrian immigration regulation
  • Consulting with internal legal experts and external service providers related to immigration cases
  • Maintaining an up-to-date immigration database and monitoring the ongoing processes

Your qualifications and skills:

  • College/university degree
  • 1+ years of relevant experience 
  • General knowledge of immigration laws and practices
  • Experience of working in multicultural environment
  • Fluent in both English and German
  • Very good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Full computer literacy
  • Precision, attention to detail, priority-setting, multiple-tasking

We offer a competitive salary starting from gross 45 000 EUR/year. A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate’s working experience.
