The Career Services Office (CSO) at Central European University invites applications for the position of Coordinator. This is an opportunity to support the personal and professional growth of CEU students working within a dynamic team of career services professionals. We seek a colleague with excellent writing, communication, and social media skills as well as experience in student and/or career advising.
The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Duties and responsibilities:

CEU Career Services Office
The CEU Career Services Office (CSO) plays a leading role in institutional efforts to ensure that the university’s graduates are prepared to transform their CEU experience into meaningful professional engagement. The CSO works directly with students and alumni, offering guidance, support and information to help them develop and pursue personal visions for impact and success all over the world. The office also cultivates partnerships with current and potential employer partners in order to develop awareness of the value of a CEU education and to create opportunities for CEU students and alumni. CEU’s degree programs are primarily in the social sciences and liberal arts.

The team member will serve as an integral member of the CSO team, collaborating with other team members on a range of initiatives, events and activities. Members of the CSO team fulfill duties in the areas of career education and career advising, each working with specific target student/alumni groups. Additionally, each team member takes responsibility for specific functional programs and/or projects. The main functional area of responsibility for this role will be Communications.

Functional Areas of Responsibility
The main functional area of responsibility of the new team member will be communications.

Communications

  • Creating and implementing, working closely with CSO Director and collaborating with CSO team members, annual communications plan geared towards driving student engagement with the Career Services Office and increasing institutional awareness of the work of the office.
  • Supporting efforts to communicate about office activities towards faculty and academic staff and to other CEU units.
  • Creating CSO comms materials and content targeted to specific audiences (for example, particular student groups) about office initiatives and programming; disseminating communication via multiple tools (email campaigns, posters, social media, Constant Contact emails ...).
  • Managing the CSO external website and internal Sharepoint Intranet site.
  • Coordinating research carried out by CSO team members to identify and share resources and vacancies of potential relevance to CEU students and ensuring the quality and relevance of resources and vacancies in the CEU careers platform.
  • Liaising with other CEU units to coordinate communications to specific audiences.

Career Education and Advising
In the areas of Career Education and Advising, the team member will serve as a Program Liaison. This involves responsibilities and duties including:

  • Conducting one-on-one career advising sessions with CEU students and alumni on common career development topics;
  • Engaging directly with assigned student populations via email and conducting other outreach to promote CSO initiatives;
  • Organizing in-person and/or virtual career education and/or employer events;
  • Developing career development materials for the Career Services Office ‘Career Knowledge Hub’;
  • Conducting research to identify job, internship and fellowship opportunities of relevance to CEU students and alumni and sharing this information via CEU’s careers platform, CareerNext;
  • Gathering information about employers of potential relevance to specific student groups and attending occasional meetings with current and potential employer partners;
  • Contributing conscientiously to CSO efforts to track student engagement with the office.

The team member may be assigned additional functional programs or projects.

Qualifications and skills:

Required:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to organize and disseminate information through multiple channels, tailoring as necessary to diverse target audiences;
  • Ability to conceptualize and create compelling promotional materials and campaigns (both visuals and text);
  • Demonstrated experience creating email campaigns and managing social media platforms and promotional campaigns;
  • Experience successfully coordinating multiple complex projects simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated experience tutoring, mentoring and/or counseling experience, ideally career or academic advising in an international higher education or non-profit organization;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • High level of comfort in a complex, fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • IT familiarity: Office applications (including excellent PowerPoint skills), web-editing software, e-marketing software such as Constant Contact or MailChimp;
  • University degree (Bachelor’s or higher, Master’s preferred);
  • Near native-level fluency in English, excellent English-language writing and editing skills;

Advantages:

  • Knowledge of career paths pursued by graduates of master’s level programs in the social sciences and humanities, both within and outside of Europe;
  • Experience using programs such as Canva, InDesign, and/or Infogram.

Compensation
We offer a competitive salary in the range of 40-42.000 EUR/year, commensurate with experience.
