Research Assistant

[Appointment period: twelve months]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Precarious talent? Employment quality and integration of highly educated migrants in Hong Kong”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    conduct literature reviews on job quality, employment conditions, labour market integration, and experiences of highly skilled migrants;

(b)    assist in quantitative and qualitative data collection, including survey administration, interview coordination, data management, and data analysis;

(c)    assist in preparing research reports, policy briefs, academic publications, and dissemination materials;

(d)    support research-related and administrative duties; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have an honours degree in Social Sciences, preferably with specialisation in Demography, Public Policy, Economics, Survey Research, Statistics or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua and/or Cantonese;

(c)    have hands-on experience with statistical software or programming languages, such as Stata, R or Python;

(d)    have strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills; 

(e)    have a strong sense of responsibility;

(f)     be self-motivated and detail-oriented; and

(g)    be a good team player and be able to work independently.
