School of Interdisciplinary Studies

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS) was established to deepen interdisciplinary studies and scholarly collaboration. SIS positions at the fusion of excellence of interdisciplinary research and education. The School’s strategic areas are centred with the theme of sustainability and embraced by the fundamental engineering science and lead to smart future.

General Requirements

Applicants for the position should have a PhD degree in Engineering or fields related to Sustainability. The candidates should have demonstrated a sound track record of leadership in research and scholarly activities, substantial research and teaching experience with significant scholarly publications in leading journals and academic achievements, in the field of interdisciplinary studies of Sustainability, including but not limited to Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Green Materials, Carbon Neutrality, etc.

Lingnan University pursues excellence in both teaching and research. The appointee is expected to conduct research projects and publish outputs with high impact, teach courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and participate in academic and professional activities. In particular, the appointee is expected to apply for external competitive grants, and commit to teaching excellence and active services to the School, and the University. The appointee is also expected to participate in building Lingnan University’s research institutes or technology commercialization centers in both Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area and/or other areas in Mainland China. Applicants are required to provide information on their work experience, qualifications, research records, and evidence of quality teaching. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Administrative experience is university departments would be an advantage.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.

Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
