Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Educational/School Psychology in the Department of Psychology (Ref.: 523549, to commence on August 01, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. The appointment rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms subject to approval.)
The Department of Psychology was founded in 1968 and was the first department of psychology in Hong Kong. The Department is represented by 21 faculty members with different areas of expertise, including clinical psychology/neuropsychology, cognitive psychology/cognitive science, neuroscience, educational and developmental psychology, as well as social/health psychology. Our faculty members engage in a broad range of research across the discipline, from basic human neuroscience to educational policy, as these different areas of research inform and complement each other. This unique research environment enables the integration of different disciplinary areas into cohesive and empirically sound research programmes that are translated into measurable societal impact. We also support open science and strive for high integrity, trustworthy, replicable and reproducible research. We value diverse research methodologies. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Educational/School Psychology, and the qualification to practise as educational/school psychologist. To apply for Assistant Professor, candidates should have a good record of research. To apply for Associate Professor, candidates should have a strong research record with publications in leading academic journals. To apply for Professor, candidates should also demonstrate evidence of international standing in the field and a proven track record of impactful research, publications, external grants and leadership. The appointee is expected to maintain an active research programme, and be responsible for teaching courses and supervising students at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as contributing to the administration of academic programmes.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax in Hong Kong does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
