Postdoctoral Fellow

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Corpus-based oral English assessment: Evaluating PolyU students’ spoken English proficiency and communication competency and implications for AI-driven pedagogy”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    conduct independent and collaborative research;

(b)    collect extensive spoken corpora and related participant demographic information;

(c)    assist in the development of assessment instruments and protocols, and utilize AI tools for language analysis and materials production;

(d)    prepare and publish high-quality research articles with staff members of the University; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegate(s).

Qualifications

Applicants should have: 

(a)    a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related discipline or an equivalent qualification, and must have no more than 5 years of post-qualification experience at the time of application;

(b)    a proven track record of empirical research; 

(c)    the ability to work independently and as part of a team;

(d)    excellent communication skills; and 

(e)    strong organisational and time management skills.
