Associate Professor

Media and Creative Industries

The University is seeking to hire a full-time Associate Professor in the area of Media and Creative Industries.  Candidates should have (1) a strong PhD in film or media studies; (2) good track record in designing and teaching courses in media policy, media theory, media convergence and production studies (both undergraduate and postgraduate levels); (3) good track record in publication and successful grant application in the relevant areas; and (4) knowledge of local and regional media and creative industries.

The appointee will join the Faculty of Arts  (https://www.ln.edu.hk/arts/ ) and will be expected to conduct research projects and publish outputs with high impact, teaching courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and participate in academic and professional activities.  In particular, the appointee is expected to apply for external competitive grant, and commit to teaching excellence and active services to the Faculty and the University.  Candidates are required to provide evidence of their research records and quality teaching.  A proven record in academic leadership and institutional service would be a distinct advantage. 

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive.  Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.

Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may normally lead to longer-term appointment with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
