Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Medical Laboratory Science (Ref. 240223010)

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences hosting the disciplines of Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography.  HTI offers academic programmes at various levels, ranging from Bachelor’s degree all the way to PhD degree.  There are currently about 40 faculty members, with about 25 technical and administrative personnel, plus around 140 research students and research staff, 250 postgraduate students, and 700 undergraduate students in HTI. Duties

The appointee will be required to:

  • contribute to the teaching/learning activities in Medical Laboratory Science and/or Biomedical Science, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 
  • engage actively in research, consultancy and other scholarly activities; 
  • undertake academic and administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Unit; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates. 

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • a PhD degree in the area of Biomedical Science or other closely related fields;
  • extensive teaching and research experience in Cellular Pathology;
  • strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research;
  • a track record of collaboration as well as leadership in research; and
  • a strong record of output in research and development that is commensurate with the appointed grade.

Preference will be given to those with professional experience related to medical laboratory science.

Applicants with excellent teaching, publication and research collaboration track records will be considered for appointment at higher level.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
