Research and teaching in the Departments of Politics and Economics at the East European Institute cover the entire range of political and economic processes and institutions in Eastern Europe and post-Soviet Eurasia. The chairs have a strong interest in topics of comparative authoritarianism research (including domestic and international dimensions of authoritarian rule), political economy, development economics and comparative economic systems, as well as topics at the intersection of social sciences and historical research.

Job description:
Participation in research and teaching in the disciplines of politics and economics with a focus on quantitative methods and involvement in the teaching organization of the Eastern European Institute; Supporting the professorships in supervising students and guest researchers. The role serves also for the preparation of scientific qualification towards a doctorate.

Requirements:
- Completed university degree in a relevant discipline (social, political, economic sciences, etc.)

Desirable:
- solid knowledge of quantitative methods of empirical social research
- Experience in research and teaching;
- Experience with higher education structures;
- Organizational experience;
- Ability to work independently and creatively, and to be innovative;
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of Russian or another Eastern European or Eurasian language is an asset.
