Teaching and research in the Department of Economics is primarily concerned with issues in the areas of labor economics, international economics, political economy, migration economics and economic policy. One focus of our research is the study of the determinants of immigration and trade policy in the United States. Another focus is analyzing the long-term effects of cultural and ethnic diversity in childhood on economic behavior and outcomes. The teaching program is open to both students in North American Studies as well as for students of the Master's programs "Economics" and "Public Economics".

Job description:

- Internationally visible research output aiming at publication in refereed journals Participation in teaching

- supervision of Bachelor and Master theses

- active participation in applying for and carrying out third-party funding

The successful candidate has the opportunity to develop her/his academic profile

Requirements:
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics, doctoral degree (PhD) in economics

Desirable:

- Special aptitude for scientific work, demonstrated by a very good doctorate, ideally completed no more than four years ago

- good knowledge in econometrics

- interest in one or more of the following research topics: political economics, migration economics, North American economic policy and/or economic history

- very good language skills in English
