W2 Professorship in Computational and Systems Biology of Aging and Aging-associated diseases (f/m/d)
CECAD – the Cologne Cluster of Excellence on Aging and Aging-associated diseases
 

The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. With its six Faculties covering a broad spectrum of disciplines and its outstanding research profile areas, it enjoys an excellent international reputation for its academic achievements and high standards in undergraduate and graduate education. 

The University of Cologne Cluster of Excellence on Aging and Aging-associated Diseases CECAD is filling a W2 professorship. CECAD is a world leading research center on the biology of aging and its diseases, and a joint venture of the University of Cologne, the University Hospital Cologne, the Max Planck Institutes (MPI) for Biology of Ageing and for Metabolism Research, as well as the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). The professorships will have a dual affiliation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MNF) and the Faculty of Medicine (MF). Primary affiliation will depend on scientific focus of the candidate. 

YOUR TASKS
Candidates are expected to establish an internationally leading program and successful research team in computational biology of aging at the University of Cologne that strengthen and complement ongoing research in CECAD as well as contribute to teaching. The successful candidates will contribute to building an open, welcoming environment that promotes diversity at all levels.

YOUR PROFILE
The university is seeking outstanding scientists in the fields of computational and systems biology of aging whose scientific vision and interests complement and align with the research landscape of CECAD, the MNF, and the MF. Areas of potential interest are e.g. integrative systems biology or modelling of key aging processes. In addition to established track records in research, teaching, and the acquisition of external funding, social competence and team-oriented leadership qualities are required. 
The W2 position is intended for principal investigators with at least 2 years of independent PI experience and with excellent publication record and third-party funding.
