The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg August University Göttingen, Germany invites applications for a

Junior-Professorship for Pure Mathematics (salary W1 NBesO)

to be filled at the earliest possible date, on a temporary basis, at the Mathematical Institute.

If the personal prerequisites are satisfied, the candidate will be recruited as a civil servant on a temporary basis for the initial period of three years. Based on a positive evaluation the position is extended for another three years.

The Institute is seeking candidates with a profile in an area of pure mathematics that provides links to its research groups. Involvement in the Research Training Group 2491, „Fourier Analysis and Spectral Theory“ funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is appreciated. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence in their research activities and experience in teaching. Experience in winning third-party funding will be viewed as an advantage. The duties include research and teaching in the field of expertise as well as participation in teaching within the scope of the mathematical bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Research-oriented teaching is an important aspect of the teaching philosophy of the University.

The general duties and responsibilities and preconditions for recruitment arise from § 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the currently valid version. The period being employed as graduate assistant or research assistant before or after the doctorate should not exceed a total of six years.
