Offer Description

The School VI of Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology and health services research. Together with the four regional hospitals, School VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, the university cooperates closely with the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.

In the animal house as a core facility of School VI – Medicine and Health Sciences there is a vacancy for a

Veterinarian/Scientist (m/f/d)

(up to E14 TV-L, 75%)

 

to be filled as soon as possible limited in time until June 30, 2025.

 

The animal house is for the care and care of the laboratory animals (especially mice, other rodents, birds) of School V and VI responsible. The job holder's responsibility includes, among other things, advice to carry out animal experiments and monitor regulatory and official requirements.

There are currently three veterinarians, a core facility manager, an animal care master and five animal keepers in the animal house and employs four trainees.

 

Tasks include:

  • Advising the project management on the submission and implementation of animal testing applications
  • Review of animal testing applications
  • Participation in the implementation of animal experiment courses
  • Conception and implementation of hygiene concepts for animal husbandry
  • Creating standard processes (SOP)
  • Planning and supplementing the animal husbandry software with additional services
  • Collaboration and assistance in the veterinary care of the university's animal population
  • If necessary, taking on activities as an animal protection officer

 

 

with appropriate qualifications:
  • Veterinary care for the university's animal population
  • Participation in the veterinary on-call service
  • Management of the veterinary medicine cabinet

 

Recruitment requirements:

  • Relevant, completed university degree in natural sciences, e.g. in the field of biology, biomedicine, neurosciences or other relevant subject area combined with experience in animal experiments or
  • a university degree in veterinary medicine with a licence to practise as a veterinarian

combined with knowledge and experience in diagnostics and therapy of small rodents

  • Knowledge of current animal welfare legislation
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good knowledge of common Office applications

 

Preferred qualifiacations:

  • Knowledge and experience in diagnostics and therapy of birds
  • Experience as an animal welfare officer
  • Knowledge in the breeding care of small rodents
