University Professorship (m/f/d) in Thermodynamics
          

 


The Position

The professorship is responsible for managing the Institute for Thermodynamics at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH). The institute is one of twenty institutes in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at LUH and is located on the Garbsen Mechanical Engineering Campus (CMG), which opened in 2020. It represents technical thermodynamics, which, on the one hand, plays an important role in shaping the engineering competence profile in teaching and, on the other hand, provides important building blocks for the faculty's focus on energy and process engineering through research into the fundamentals and applications of thermodynamics.

The tasks include, among others:

  • Development of new research questions and design of research on current topics in thermodynamics
  • Participation in and initiation of research collaborations
  • Promoting young talent at the level of students, doctoral candidates and postdocs
  • Participation in academic self-government

Your Profile

To fulfill the above tasks, it is expected:

  • Above-average doctorate on a topic relevant to thermodynamics
  • Ability to teach courses in German and English
  • Academic relevance in thermodynamics proven through publications

It is also desirable:

  • Several years of experience in scientific work in a topic relevant to thermodynamics at a university or in an industrial company
  • Evidence of professional breadth and innovative ability in thermodynamics
  • Experience in independently conducting courses, ideally with very good evaluations
  • Experience in supervising young scientists
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding and/or patent registration
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Experience in laboratory work
