Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) is one of the largest universities in Germany. The Faculty of Law, Management and Economics invites applications for the position of
University Professor of German Civil Law, German and European Business Law
beginning on April 1st, 2025.
Salary grade W 3 LBesG | Civil servant (tenured)
Tasks and expectations:
We are looking for a candidate to represent German Civil Law as well as German and European Antitrust and Competition Law in research and teaching. Familiarity with digital teaching methods is required, as is the readiness to apply innovative forms of teaching and learning. The candidate should be prepared to actively support the faculty’s goal of internationalization. We regard the willingness to take part in academic self-administration as a matter of course.

Requirements:
- In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in Section 49 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- In addition to a doctoral title, proof of excellent academic achievements is required.
The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and JGU are committed to close personal mentoring of students and therefore expect teaching staff to have a strong presence at the university. A cooperative, team-oriented and proactive work attitude, strong communication skills, and the willingness to assume responsibility – including further professional development in accordance with JGU’s leadership guide-lines – is also expected.
