The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in »Single-Cell Analyses in Neuropsychiatry« to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3.
Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Medicine and Health and will be part of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the TUM university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. Close collaborations within the TUM School of Medicine and Health, within the TUM Schools of Life Sciences and Natural Sciences, the German Center for Mental Health and the Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy), as well as TUM’s established collaborative research centers foster an outstanding scientific environment.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. TUM aims to better understand the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic tools for these conditions. Therefore, we seek to appoint an expert in the research area of neuronal, glial and/or immune cell responses in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders focussing on cutting-edge single-cell and (spatial) omics technologies. Teaching responsibilitiesinclude courses at TUM School of Medicine and Health as well as responsibilities in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as teaching skills, are prerequisites. Previous research experience abroad (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information) and the proven ability to attract third-party funding are expected and a clear commitment to do interdisciplinary research at the interfaces of the SyNergy-Cluster and the German Center for Mental Health will be important.
