The laboratory of Prof. Ibrahim Cissè (Department of Biological Physics) at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg has a vacancy for a technical assistant (m/f/d). The Cissè lab develops single-molecule and super-resolution microscopy approaches to visualize gene expression and other processes in living cells. The position will be a link between the department and the Transgenic Mouse Core Unit, which provides services for the generation of transgenic and genetically modified mice.

The position is to be filled with immediate effect and is initially limited to two years.

The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics (MPI-IE) in Freiburg, Germany is an interdisciplinary research institution that conducts basic research in two key areas of modern biology: Immunobiology and Epigenetics. Central questions address the molecular basis of cell type identities, as they are regulated during immune cell differentiation, metabolic response and epigenetic chromatin adaptation.


Your tasks
  • Genome and base editing, experiments with CRISPR
  • Introduction of genome editing reagents into mouse embryos by microinjection and electroporation
  • Injection of stem cells into mouse embryos and aggregation of mouse stem cells
  • Transplantation of mouse embryos into fallopian tubes and uterus
  • General laboratory support
  • Interaction with veterinary staff if required

Your qualifications
  • A biological or biomedical background (state-recognized qualification as a technical assistant "BTA, CTA, MTA" or comparable) and at least three years of professional experience are required
  • Knowledge of conducting experiments with mice and embryonic stem cells.
  • Flexibility and willingness to familiarize yourself with new technologies.
  • You should have experience with experiments on the model mouse; a FELASA B certificate is desirable
  • Fluency in German and English is preferred
