Offer Description

The Cluster of Excellence ROOTS at Kiel University is at the earliest possible date offering a position as Technical Assistant in the Thin Section Laboratory.

Working hours: 38,7 hours (100%)         Salary: up to pay grade E 9a TV-L

Your tasks:

  • Assistance with the planning and construction of the thin-section laboratory
  • Preparation and management of thin-section samples
  • General laboratory management, such as ordering supplies for example

Your profile:

  • Completed professional education as a technical assistant or laboratory technician (including final examination) with commensurate skills and experience, or a first professional qualification in a related field
  • Knowledge in rock thin section production and petrography
  • Good knowledge of standard software (Excel, LAX, Omnic)
  • Good German (at least B1) and English (at least B1) language skills, both spoken and written
     

Soft skils:

  • High organization skills
  • Ability to learn new inventory management software
