is seeking to fill a

Substitute Professorship English Law, UK Politics and Economy 

From October 2024, the Centre for British Studies at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin is seeking to fill the position of substitute professor at the Chair of English Law, Politics and Economy for an interim period of 2 years. The successful candidate should have a suitable academic background in Law (PhD, good publication record), a proven interest in English (or Scottish) law, interdisciplinary experience (e.g. political science and/or economics), be able to communicate in German in an academic setting (B2 or higher), have excellent English (C1) as well as a first-rate track record in higher education teaching, and should be willing to take on administrative (departmental and university committees, MA and PhD thesis supervision, mentoring of postdoctoral researchers), teaching (Constitutional Law, English Legal System, Contract Law, academic writing) and research (publication, funding applications) duties. Knowledge exchange experience as well as experience with the UK higher academic system would be added assets.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 113 in conjunction with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz`. HU is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching, and specifically encourages qualified female academics to apply.
